MPW company history
Mitchell Plastic Welding Pty Ltd (MPW) is a family owned and operated business started by Michael Mitchell in 1988. Michael’s son, Brendan, is the Operations Manager, responsible for the day to day operations, as well as the strategic implementation of the company’s vision.
Michael Mitchell moved from being a builder by trade, into Plastic Welding, over 25 years ago.
MPW currently has 20 employees including specialists in WHS, Diesel Mechanics, and Plastic Fabricators as well as Administration and Business Development personnel. MPW has developed to run the largest range of specialised plastic welding and associated equipment in Tasmania. MPW is now the largest fish pen construction company in Australia and has constructed hundreds of kilometres of pipelines across Tasmania.
What MPW does
MPW is a contractual plastic welding services company with clients in Tasmania, mainland Australia and overseas. MPW has a large complement of mobile, tracked, pipe welders and portable welders offering manufacturing, fabrication and repair capabilities to the aquaculture, industrial and agricultural irrigation sectors. MPW provides 24 hour support to its clients.
MPW specialises in High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) products including the construction/welding of waterlines for irrigation, fish pens, bird net stands, pontoons, and custom made tanks for the expanding aquaculture sector. Other products MPW supplies include valves, pumps, plastic flat sheet, pipe and fittings in HDPE, polypropylene and Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC). The supply division is backed up with full design and installation services.
In addition to its existing services, MPW is commissioning a new Rotomoulding facility – the only one of its kind in the Huon Valley, enabling the production of innovative designs for clients’ needs.
